Broken Axle

My good buddy has an 02 Suburban.

He had it towed it to a shop because it started making a terrible noise from the rear diff, and it dumped all the gear oil. Shop said it has a broken axle caused from a bearing that went out, and it needs a full rebuild from wheel to wheel.

They want $2600 to rebuild it.

Does that sound reasonable? The truck has 175k miles, and he said its a 5 lug rear end, but I think they are all 6 lug right?

Seems like a good candidate for a junkyard rear end....
