steering column help

ok just to start off if i didnt have this forum to go to i wouldnt get anything done. so thanx everyone So i have a 71 K10 the steering column is moving in and out. ok so im talking about the inside shaft the one that goes from the steering wheel down to the steering box. now i do have a flaming river colapsable shaft because this truck has a body lift from the PO, but still lets say it did have the stock rag joint in , you can grab the steering wheel and pull it back anf forth about 1/2 inch ....any ideas??
