1953 4 speed tranny and rear end swap "Help Needed"

Hey guys I need some help. I know it's been asked a million times, but I still feel kinda lost. I have a 1953 3100 1/2 ton with a rebuilt 235 it was bagged with a 2 link set-up and the original enclosed drive line and original granny 4 speed tranny (gonna change it to 4 link once swap is started) I'm looking for a plug and play 4 speed open drive line tranny and I want to retain the original 6 lug pattern and width when it comes to the rear axle. I'm looking for the simplest swap possible... aside from welding up my links to the rear end and sizing up a drive line.
I heard the 1964-1969 Chevy 1/2 ton truck is what I need for the rear end? I also talked to some guy with a 1950 3100 that was running a 1962 chevy 4 speed saginaw, but the only thing he knew was the year of the tranny and claimed no mods were needed for the swap?
