Removing truck lift

What was/is the common method for lifting the front of our leaf spring trucks? Both of my trucks have small lifts on them ....3"-4" and you can see the blocks under the springs in the rear. However, neither truck has blocks in the front. Did they just replace the leaf springs with lift springs up front? If so, why didn't they do this for the rear too? Suppose I wanted to bring them back to stock height? I assume I would just remove the blocks from the rear but I would have to find stock front leafs to get them level, right? What adjustments do I need to make for the driveshafts if bringing them back to stock height?

Thanks,
Jimmie
