Rear End for 72 Coil Spring

New here and I must say it's a great forum. I picked up a 72 SWB back in May out of Arizona. Beautiful will built frame off 3 yes ago, 5.3 Vortec / 4L60E swap but they put a 99 Z28 rear end in it. I'm looking to either beef up the 5.3 or maybe an LS3. That little 7.5 differential won't handle much, not planning on racing it but do like a few burn outs. The current differential is 62" axle flange to axle flange. I want to minimize my work and keep same rims. I keep finding mixed info on what year models have that rear end deminsion or at least within an inch with disc brakes. Any help would be appreciated.

George
