RPM Tachometer Installation

Can anyone help me out,
I just purchase a new dash bezel and I added a 8000 rpm tachometer my question is on the instruction it shows how to install the tachometer using a coil but not with a HEI dist it says that the tachometer will work with a HEI dist but will need to purchase a tachometer adapter this tachometer only have a 2 wire plug coming off the back of the tachometer what is the correct way to install this tachometer using the adapter. I'm not sure if one wire go to the fuse block for power and one wire go to the dist.
