New member... looking to get a truck.

Hello there. I'm new to the forum. I found this forum a couple of weeks ago and have been looking around, reading a few threads. Well, thought I'd finally say hi!

I've been on the search for a '70-'72 C10 for a few months. Nothing serious, just looking around... I've only looked at 2 in person. Well, low and behold (?), I saw a '72 this last weekend that is very straight and in pretty decent shape. It has 1 spot on the lower driver door that is showing some rust bubbles under the paint. The clear coat is flaking off on most of the truck, but the paint is still good. Engine wise, it has a 350 from an '80's Camero and a 700R transmission... Runs great, shifts smooth. There is a tick at start up on the front passenger side, likely a lifter, but it goes away after a few minutes of idle. The speedo is way off, supposedly due to the transmission swap. And, the gas gauge does not work (supposedly an easy fix by reading a few threads on here). The guy is asking $6k for it, but it is negotiable.

I'm going to go back and look it over again. I'm taking a buddy with me that knows more about vehicles than I do. My knowledge on these trucks does not stretch very far. I had a '70 C10 back in high school, which is why I'm looking for another one. Is there anything I need to really pay attention to and look for? Maybe I've already seen it, and just failed to mention it here.
