Front drum to disc... Spindles?

I just got a 67 Chevy C10 for my daughters first car... She is about to get her license, and that's what she wants, parenting win!! I want to upgrade the steering and brakes, so will have a few questions coming, but today's topic is front brakes...

It has 6 lug wheels, with drum brakes. I see there are several kits available. Some have new spindles, along with the calipers, ect. There are also kits that use the stock spindles. I would prefer going that way, so I don't have to mess with ball joints, alignment, ect.

Is there any benefit or drawback to either method? I am also going to upgrade the manual brakes to power with a new booster and master cylinder.

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks, Earl
