Factory Coil Spring question

Men,

Picked up a set of 3" drop coil springs and I am trying to compare their height versus a factory coil. Thinking about dropping my 98' WT shortie all of the way around (4.3L V6/ NV3500 combo). The coils I picked up are approximately 14" high. Weighing my options to use these or the 2" drop spindles. If used in conjunction, what would I be looking at drop wise (if there is such a difference between drop coils for V8 and V6 trucks)....
