New air compressor keeps tripping breaker...not a happy camper - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Need help guys. Bought a new Kobalt 60 gallon, 240v air compressor today. I got it home, wired with a plug, and hooked it up. Turned it on and the breaker trips. Hooked it up to the other 240 outlet (welder outlet) and same thing. When I turn it on the motor moves the pulley a mm or so then stops.

I did reset the breakers and my 240 welder works in both.

Did I buy a dud? Are my breakers duds? I'm pretty bummed.
