New crate products from Chevrolet
GM released a new set of performance products at SEMA this year. For those LS swapping guys, the new LT376 (LT1 variant) produces 535 horsepower. The cylinder deactivation and other extra features might make the swap more difficult but I would imagine it would be close to the same level of difficulty as an LS swap. After all, they are relatively similar designs.
The more important release with respect to 67-72 builds IMO is the 8l90 crate transmission. I always see numerous forum threads about trying to achieve Highway "cruise-ability" and some decent fuel economy. While a $5k MSRP is expensive, the cost of a TH400 + Gear Vendors overdrive is around the same. It shares the same housing as the 6l80/90, so i don't think it would be difficult to pair with an existing LS motor. For those who have paired a 4l80e with a SBC, the process would likely be similar IMO, but feel free to correct me.
If you're willing to sell a kidney, you can buy a LT376 connect & cruise, paired to the 8l90e. A nice stock looking blazer with this under the hood, now that would be one sweet build.
