Water temp sender question (location)

One of my next projects is to reconnect a few of my dash gauges that are not being used in lieu of an under dash set that I want to eliminate. My water temp sender is coming from the passenger side of the block with what looks like a coil covered line that actually passes water to the gauge (my speculation). I've read the threads on the best sender to get - can anyone tell me which is better, or will fit a proper wired sensor - the manifold or this block location? Thank you, Ned
