Trouble with the three-on-tree, now fine

I was having trouble with the three-on-tree transmission. When trying to shift from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 1st, both were very difficult to engage. I tried with WD-40 spray as shown in photos. Incredibly after 2 or 3 sprays, now it shifts smoothly. If you have a stuck three-on-tree, maybe you can try this.
