Regarding rust inside cab
Hey guys! I've had my '53 for a couple years and do what I can when I can. In the process of updating the cab with new carpet, door panels, headliner etc...While installing some raammat in the rear cab area, I noticed a good amount of surface rust - quite thick and rough in certain areas. It's in the top cavity area of the rear cab and on the back side where the door striker bolts are. These areas obviously weren't painted during the first restoration by the previous owner years ago and are hidden from the eye, but I'm wondering if I should at least grind it down and spray a rust converter on it to prevent it from turning into something worse. There are no holes and the metal feels pretty strong. I haven't removed too much rust in my lifetime - I'm on the younger side and this is my first go at this. Sorry, trying to describe these areas is a bit difficult without knowing all of the verbiage. Thanks for any input!
