Advice lowering rear only

67 c10 fleetside. It has the "helper" leaf (factory option) in back. But it's coil, not leaf.

Here is a pic of how the truck sits. Those 24" wheels are going, I'm gonna put some 17 inch ones as soon as I can find something.

Anyway, the rear sits too high. I want to get it the same height as the front without spending a ton of money.

I remember cutting the coils on a 69 Firebird that I had, but ended up lower than I would have liked, plus I hear people saying that cutting the coils can be dangerous (mine never gave me trouble).

Any advice on getting it the right height? I think I will most likely get the new rims before too long, should I wait?
