1965 Stepside, The LST Challenge

Well, I have been given a challenge to have my old truck at LST this year. My oldest son, Korbin, is giving me his old 5.3 that is being replaced in White Trash. I will be just the engine, and I will need some brackets and other items, but its a start. LST is Feb. 24-26, 2017. I have a hotel confirmed and will be submitting my registration this week. Part of the challenge was that I drive it to the show, but I am much older and wiser now and I got him to agree that I can trailer it down to Conroe and only drive it from the hotel to the show. 25 years ago, I might have been inclined to get it together and drive it but not anymore for doing this in 60 days.

For those that don't know much about my old truck, here is a thread I started in 2010 when I thought life was going to allow me to redo the truck.

The plan is to get it running and drivable for LST, that means it will most likely NOT get any exterior body work or paint at this time. I will do some temporary rust patching inside the cab on the floor, but little else in the way of exterior improvements. Not sure on what I will be doing for wheels and tires, but it will most likely be 15" wheels at this point. I have a few options such as stock 5 lug steelies, 5 lug truck/van rallies and a set of Weld wheels that really belong to Owen...

So for the first time since I built my shop last year, my old truck is in and we are moving forward with the build...



Korbin and Owen will both be helping me as time allows, but part of the challenge is that Korbin has WT running and going to LST also.
