power steering gear box rebuild

Hi All,
Have any of you rebuilt a power steering gearbox? Mine leaks out the input shaft. I'm wondering how difficult it is, and whether or not special tools are required. I'm considering the rebuild vs. replace option because the rebuild kit is about $140 cheaper and it's more readily available. '71 K20
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Ben
