Shiftrod bushings

trying to find replacement rubber bushings (or grommets) for the shift rod on my 68 C20 w/ a THM 350 transmission. Classic Industries used to show these for 47-66 models, after a call to them, I was informed that they can no longer get even those. Tried NAPA, my local transmission shop which rebuilt this unit about 20 years ago and every major parts house I could think of. Nada.

Does anyone know of a source, or alternately has anyone figured out how to construct a passable substitute from grommets, copper tubing or whatever?
