Smile Tailgate Woodgrain and Letters

Replacing the woodgrain decal on the tailgate band,
Original letters are riveted on, the letters are in good shape and did not want to buy new ones, any ideas on how to re attach them? I heard someone tried JB Weld? A new band was $200 complete, or $70 for the letters and $15 for the decal. I bought the decal because my band and letters are in great shape.
I took the band off and found the letters were attached with rivets. Ill post pictures as the work progresses. thanks for any ideas!
***Also what color paint is original for the upper and lower molding in appears to be semi gloss black but it could be faded***
