Windshield Sealant

I have been searching and cannot find what brand or type of sealant to use to run a 6" bead each direction from the upper corner of my windshield seal.

I have a leak that trickles down the side of the windshield to the hole at the bottom on the dash and fills my glove box with water... My seal is pretty new and very pliable.

• Windshield sealant would suck because its made to be permanent.
• RTV everyone says will rot the metal.
• Seam sealer?

Can someone define what sealant to use instead of the vague stuff I am seeing?

Also, do you seal the outside of the seal to the body or peel back the seal and apply under the seal where the body and seal meet at the pinch?
