New Guy from South Mississippi
Just picked up my first classic Chevy truck this weekend. Its a 1950 3600 that is in pretty rough shap, but belonged to a family member and I am going to do my best to bring it back to life. This will be my first classic chevy, but not my first restoration. I also have a 1965 Mustang that got a full ground up restoration/restomod and have worked on countless other projects here and there. I look forward to learning what I can from here and asking lots of questions.
My plan for the truck is to swap a modern drivetrain in to the old frame and use it as a shop truck for our business. I'm planning on sourcing a totaled late model 3/4 ton with the 6.0 and 4L80 to use as a donor truck and make the swap. The cab needs to be stripped and have lots of sheet metal replaced, but thankfully the frame is solid. Im going to build a flatbed for it that fits the period but is functional for work, possible with an integrated turnover ball gooseneck hitch.
