fastening side mouldings?

I'm going to take the side body moldings/trim off of my '70 to take the dents out and refinish, then put them back on my 'patina' sheetmetal (ahem, rusty body that I can't afford to refinish). Thoughts on using new oem clips vs typical body shop trim tape adhesive? if using tape, feedback on brands, type? If using oem clips, is there more than one manufacturer, are some better than others?

I can ensure the sheetmetal underneath the mouldings is solid and rust free so i'm not worried about the trim not sticking, just more so of if it will create water/moisture issues by using the tape, will I be able to take the trim off after without bending it, etc.
