Question headers to close to tranny mount

i have a question and i hope someone has an answer. i have a 69 stepside chevy with a 350sb, it originally had a inline 6 with a 3 speed on the tree, i changed to a sb and put a 700r4 tranny in. i had to get a crossmember for the tranny at a junkyard and put it in myself. the headers i have are to close to the crossmember for the tranny on the passenger side. i have about 5.5 inches of clearence from the end of the header to the front of the tranny. is this right? i hanvt been able to drive this truck in 5 yrs i am so close now but i need some advice!!!!
love the site thanks for your help steppside69
