Well, that starter is toast... Ooops?
Not sure how this happened. Truck has been starting fine with this starter for 11 years. No noise, no weird starts... went to go for a ride tonight and BAM.
Pull the starter and see this??? I had a moment of panic when I thought maybe the motor had locked up, but none of the flywheel teeth were damaged and the Bendix gear wouldn't pull out of the starter... it locked up in the "rest" position and went bang? New starter was on an hour or so later and starts/runs fine. Never seen a starter cone break before, just thought I'd share.
