4wd Disc Conversion

I did a search and saw a lot of info about 2wd conversions but not alot about 4wd. I have a 70 K20 with D44 with drums in the front and a Eaton in the rear. I want to either convert the front to drums OR swap out both rears for a newer style with front disc. 4:10 gears right now but not really concerned about what gears but more concerned about what vehicles I should belooking for, for the donor parts. Buying a kit (although is a great idea) out of a book is just too much in my opinion. Can I look for 73-88 rear and pretty much just bolt on? Or do I need to stick to the mid to late 70's for the easiest conversion. When I do this I am going to replace every bearing, seal, bushing etc. before it all gets installed. Any info or help as to what I need to look for would be great. I am a newbie at the conversion stuff, so pro's, go lite on me.
