Flipping it's top:)

Does anyone else flip the top of the air cleaner to get more air in the carb? Looking at the camper I posted on the CL thread the top of the air cleaner is flipped over, my dad used to do that on his/mine. Curious if anyone has ever done a dyno or really noticed any power increase or gas savings? I just restored the air cleaner and it looks so good, I almost hate to flip the cover over again.
