Anyone use PEX for air lines?

Im about to plumb my house and going with PEX, I also need to run a new air line across my shop with several drops and thought PEX might work for this as well. Anyone done it? I have a neighbor that used PVC about 30 years ago and he has never had a problem, I like wirking with it but have heard of horror stories when used for air?
