front suspension?

Now I know this has probably been asked before but I needed a bit of info.

I currently have a 69 with drums up front and 6 bolt.

I want to convert to PB and discs up front. I have a 78 ( front suspension) and an 83 Chevy truck that I can get parts from.

Do I need the entire front suspension off one of them or can I take only a couple parts to be able to use the front spindles so I can use the disc brakes. I don't really care if it stays 6 bolt or goes to 5 at this point.

I know i is supposed to be fairly simple to swap the entire front cross member but I was just curious what my be plan of attack would be.
