New steering column for 50 3100

Ok I have a 50 3100 with original 3 speed standard steering column. I have seen where people have modified them to work for a auto trans but what about neutral safety and stuff?

I'm putting in a 350 motor and th350 trans from my donor c10. I was thinking of using the c10 steering column too..tilt, wipers, cruise, ignition, auto shift. But I don't think I want to. I want a more 50s look inside.

Grand plan! Find older auto shift columns. I did i found three. All in various states of falling apart or taken apart...but they were free so I've been messing with them. One was cut and shortened but all upper stuff in place. Another has a shaft and one was complete except for no steering wheel and no shaft. So I cleaned up the mostly intact one and got everything moving and freed up. Took the one with the longer shaft, my original one from original column and is same diameter. I put it in the good column and it's dry for a steering wheel!

Couple things. Can I test signal switch before install? Not sure which wires are what.

Also, am I missing a bearing, none of them have a bearing for the end of the shaft coming out the column pipe. A tube for the gear shift has a bearing like piece held in by three screws but the shaft can move around.

Next up, this good column came out of a 1956 chevy car. I've tried to Google neutral safety switches and only get stuff like how to tell if it's bad. This one is missing and can I buy one to work with my th350?
