That's true.

Part of the reason I don't like an automatic trans in our vintage trucks is because they have to be set up juuuust exactly right, or you'll burn it out.

The other thing I don't like about them is if they die, your truck is an unmoving brick.
Or if your battery dies, it's an unmoving brick.

With a manual trans, you can always get home.
