A setback...

OK, so my original plans were for a carbed small block backed by a T-56 in my 84, to bring everyone up to speed. i'm a newb when it comes to drivetrains and whatnot, so please be patient with me.

Check with a local speed shop about getting a Lakewood bellhousing for my application, on the advice of my dad who is buying/building my motor/tranny for a graduation gift of sorts. Of course, Lakewood doesn't make one, and no plans to in the future.

First of all, it is possible to do what i want, correct? What is the purpose of the bellhousing, and why do i need one specifically for my truck? I'm sure i've seen some guys on here with T-56's in their trucks, what are you guys running(sorry i don't know any usernames )?
