Flat out engineering C-4 axle problem

The bracket that mounts the dog bones to the hub assembly cut into my aluminum axle. Went in about 1/2". Everything is tight and mounted properly. Only did it on the drivers side. Got a new axle and replaced all the bushings with polyurethane. There is only 1/4 inch between the bracket and the axle. Could the torque from my big block twist the axle mounts enough to do this or is there some other cause?
