Towing question.

I have a 2wd and thus, no holes for tow hooks. If my truck needed a tow, would it be safe to attach a tow strap ("snatch strap") around the front bumper, as close to a frame horn as possible?

If a brush guard was on my front, would it be safe to do the same thing from there, where the guard attaches to the front bumper?
