shifter problems

my blazer originally had a column shifter, but the previous owner put a kit in the floor. The bracket that is bolted onto the transmission just broke where it bolts into the tranny. I purchased a new kit, but being a first time 4x4 owner did not know there was a difference between 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive kits. It turns out they had a 2 wheel drive kit as well and had to do some modifications on it to make it fit. I've had to do it as well on the new kit, but the guts of the shifter is different than the one I purchased. It is curved so that it comes in the hole thru the floor, and the new is straight, so I would have to cut more floor out. The old curved doesn't seem to be working right and the rods going from the legs to the tranny keep on hitting my exhaust, anyway. Do they make a floor shifter kit for 4x4's? Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
