235 Straight Six has Timing Tab front of engine

On a 1961 with 235 engine number 3769716. There is a timing tab and marks (etched) in the harmonic balancer. The flywheel hole - oem where timing is set has a place it cap over it. An electronic distributor was installed out of 2.8 S10 (determine this from the cap and rotor). The magnetic pickup appears to go the way of the dinosaurs. I am in the process of adding a MSD box the box and coil checkout. I ordered a HEI distributor from Summit not going to fool with the old one its a one I am guessing I can set the timing like usually do for a chevy using the tab and a normal timing light. I have not see anyone mention the conversion to a timing tab in front of the engine. Wanted to get your thoughts thanks -Matt
