Coolant temp sensor placement

I just installed my aluminum radiator and I have the probe style sensor. I’m not too thrilled about stabbing thought the fins of my new radiator. Is there another option? I can’t use the location on the heads because the headers. They melt everything in thier vicinity. Should I just suck it up and plunge it through the upper hose inlet? Thanks in advance.
