I'm trying to find a magazine article from the mid-1990s
Back in the mid-1990s, one of the car magazines did an article about a 1957(?) Chevy truck that was built to race in the Silver State and Pony Express road races. From what I remember, the truck ran a 3.8L Buick turbo V6 with one-off cam and fuel injection. The truck was lowered and white in color, with a large aluminum splitter/air intake under the front grille. It should have been between 1995 and 1997, about the same time I began working on my truck.
I'll be darned if I can find it. Either my Google is very weak or there wasn't much done with the truck following after the races. As I recall, the truck was capable of 150ish sustained and due to the proprietary EFI, they were pulling down fuel mpg in the mid 50s, giving them an advantage over competitors for fuel stops. Does anyone else remember this article? It may have been a 1955 or 1956 body. -Joe
