71 C10 Daily "resto"
I've been a member for a few months, asked a few random questions, read a 100 or so different build threads. I guess it's time to start a thread for my most recent acquisition.
1971 C10 Fleetside Longbed. A fairly basic model without a lot of options from the factory. It did originally have a TH400, but it's currently got a 350/350 combo. It's got good bones though. Fairly rust free. The drivers rocker has a little rust that was "repaired" by caulking a small piece of metal over the offending area. The passenger side rocker is perfect, however the floor right next to the rocker has some rust that was "repaired" by plugging the hole with blue RTV gasket maker. This will be my new daily driver so it's not going to be a full restoration. But there are definitely some fixes and upgrades needed. I've already changed out the key lock cylinder and got new door locks keyed the same for installing after paint. I also installed an NRG quick release steering wheel adaptor and NRG steering wheel. The original wheel wasn't, and is cracked and missing pieces. Here's how she currently looks, in black rattle can primer that melts right off with a little gas. 😂 |
