'62 3-door crew-cab (Railroad Truck)

I own a '62 3-door crew-cab, short bed, Fleet side, Chevy Truck. I'm looking for anyone that can provide any additional info on this type of trucks.
I've met several people (in particular from the Northwest, WA, ID, OR, etc.)and have been told that they were used for the Railroad and called "Crummy Trucks".
My 62 rides on a 1994 Fleetwood Cadillac frame and drive train.
Any additional info any members can provide would be greatly appreciated.
