1963 project truck

Hey everyone. Just wanted to introduce my project. I have a 1963 c10 long bed fleetside with a 230 i6 and sm420 4 speed. Truck has been in my family for almost 30 years and has been my grandpa's daily driver up until a year ago.
As far as project goes it will be done in stages.
First stage is going through, making sure everything is up to par to be safe to drive, and a basic small block and different manual trans...t5 maybe? Not sure the best route to go there. Just keeping it pretty simple for now as I'm expecting my first kid this fall, and don't have a place to do the full restoration right now.

Future plans include full restoration, updated suspension front and rear with full disk brakes, and big block. Truck will be lowered on coil overs...not slammed. And I will be making it a short box.
And yes the truck has an 80's bed on it at the moment...my grandpa put it on
