New member. a couple questions...
Hey everyone...
I just bought a 1975 Cheyenne LWB. It was cheap but runs well and isn't in too bad of shape. Problem #1: The column(automatic) shifter has an amazing amount of slop in it. I can't always get Park and the other gears aren't easy either. I looked at the external linkage and it appears fine. Problem #2, which might be related. The TH350 seems to work well, and doesn't slip or leak. However, I can't get reverse going down with the shifter. I have to pass it, and get it coming up toward park, lol. The trans also occasionally shifts from 3rd to 2nd, on it's own, at part throttle. It shift down, shift up, shift down again, and so on. Everyonce in a while it will stay in second. The shifts are firm and the modulator and downshift cable are connected. The shifts come on time, both accelerating and slowing to a stop, so I wonder if it's mainly a linkage problem. Problem #3. The temp gauge, ammeter and fuel gauges are all inoperative. The oil pressure gauge works. When I switch the lights on the temp gauge goes to full hot. Any ideas before i dig into it? Thanks for the help!
