Fuel Gauge Issues - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

All, I'm having some fuel gauge issues. Currently, I have a full tank of gas and the fuel gauge stays at 1/4 of a tank. I've done the following and it still isn't working.

1. Replaced sending unit
2. unplugged the wire from the sending unit and the fuel gauge went to full. Plugged it back in and it went back to 1/4.
3. Unplugged the sending unit wire at the fuse box and the fuel gauge went to full. Plugged it back in and it went back to 1/4.

What are my next steps to diagnosing this issue?
