1972 GMC Long bed lowering problem

I lowered my 72 GMC longbed 3 inches front and back. Used blocks and 4 degree shim on rear. I am hearing a chirping sound from I believe the carrier bearing. Rear driveshaft is tight against bearing. Should I soften the shaft and if so how much?
