Step Side bed angle strips stuck to bedsides

I am redoing my bed wood and the PO had sprayed textured paint on the bedsides and angle stripes in the bed. I was going to change the angle stripes out but they seemed stuck so tight to the bedsides I decided to leave them, and just replace the boards and flat stripes. As far as I can tell, the angle stripes just bolt to the outer bed boards and one side bolt at the rear fender brace bolt. Is this correct? I am wondering if it could be the paint that has them stuck so tight.
