POS Disc Brake Conversion

I purchased the speedway 5 lug disc brake conversion kit for my 1950 1/2 ton chevy and ran into problems with the caliper bracket hitting the steering stop way too soon. The first two pictures are where the stop contacts the spindle and how far it turns. The third and fourth pictures are where the bracket is when contacting the stop.
I could grind either the bracket or stop down but then the bracket will run into the bolt that holds the stop in place and still leaves a 1/4 inch gap between the spindle and stop. see fifth picture.

It seems like everyone has done conversions and I was wondering how they solved the problem?

Thanks in advance!
