1967 C10 Steering Shaft/Lower Column Bearing

Most of the posts I came across reference steering shaft and lower columns bearing questions are for 69-72. I just removed the steering shaft on my 67 c10 to replace the lower steering column bearing. It appears that the lower bearing is non existent or has completely worn down to thin little washer (see pics). I am trying to figure out if the shaft is suppose to have the groove above the spring in the pic, or if this is a result of the bearing being worn out. Also, I am unsure of how the lower column bearing is installed in the bottom of the 1967 steering column.
