'65 Water temp gauge not warning lights

Hey Guys,
I want to return to the old school look of the original dash cluster (that I have available to me ) rather than the aftermarket gauges in an after market dash cluster the PO has installed.
Particularly as it applies to wiring the Water Temp Gauge. The wiring diagrams all show hot and cold lights rather than a needle gauge. I know I need to change out the engine block sensor to the older style. The rear of the gauge has two contact points: one to the sensor and the other to ??

Your help is always appreciated,

John
