rear tire wanted to go faster than truck

On my way to work yesterday at 4:30 in the morning I'm doing 55 down the highway and suddenly instant sparkshow and rear driver tire (axle and all) decide it wants to get ahead of my truck.Hitch a ride home and steal the wifes car, after calling a tow truck.I was gone 3 days and come back to this(see pics)I'm wondering if the damage to the axle shaft is repairable or to try and scab one up from a junker. On top of it all my tire(1 week old) and axle, hubcap, brake drum are down a 150 foot embankment that I'm told ends at a big cliff.
