Switching to HEI

I have 70 C10 with BBC that I am thinking of switching to HEI from Skip White. The two questions I have are:

1. Where in the harness is the resistor wire? Can I just bypass it where the resistor is at or is it better to run a new wire, and if so where is best place to run key power from?

2. I have factory in-dash tach. Do I need to do anything special or just move the tach lead from the existing coil to the new HEI connector pigtail?
