TH350 install on a 67 C20 driveshaft drama

Swapping out the SM465 for a TH350 and getting near the end. I have had the driveshaft shortened and have run into an installation issue. I can't install the front half of the 2 piece driveshaft. The shop that shortened the driveshaft installed a slip yoke. So now the front shaft has the slip yoke and the carrier bearing installed. The assembly combined, by my wrestling is to long to wiggle in place. Unfortunately I failed to take pictures. I do not plan to swap out for a 1 piece. I think the problem is that I should have a slip yoke which allows for bolting the u-joint versus the pressed in type. I am looking for confirmation or suggestions. For those that have done this, what yoke did you use? Appreciate the help.
